We have had a really busy couple of weeks at school and have been learning  lots.
On Friday 17th October we visited the CLC for a maths day.

It was lots of fun and we learnt about how to make Celtic patterns and then did some problem solving in a group.

In the afternoon we had some riddles to solve and did some more group activities.

Bearemy came too, and had lots of fun on his first visit to the CLC.

Sometimes, Bearemy is a very naughty bear indeed!!

Coming next time .... some of our teaching tweets!

October is nearly here!

We've been very busy in Elm class this week. Here are a few comments about what we've been up to.

'Today in Elm class we listened and sang the coat of many colours song from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. It was my favourite song out of all the ones we listened to!'

'In maths this week we've been learning about angles. It was fun!'

'This week we've been learning about vowels, antonyms and synonyms. We've also been playing lots of literacy games.'

'This week in Elm class we did a LOT of grammar games. I really enjoyed it. Then we had forfeits which were really funny! I enjoyed this week :-)'

'This week we had some homework which was hard. I have still done it though!'

'We have been doing lots of map work including making maps of the United Kingdom, and finding Egypt on a map of Africa. It was so fun!'

'This week we did just dance for fifteen minutes each day. It is fun. We did a story map about Flat Stanley. Miss Drury reads us a book every night called 'There's a boy in the girls bathroom.'

'This week went super fast! But it was fun! It was so funny when we played synonym and antonym games. Also it was really funny but embarrassing for the forfeit people who had to play Mallets Mallet (without a real mallet, of course!!)'

Also this week the class bear, Bearamy, went on a trip to the seaside. It was his first big trip of the year, as he'd only been to stay at people's houses up until now. I think he had a lovely time, and found it very relaxing after being back at school. What do you think??

All dressed and ready to go out!

'Decisions, decisions! What shall I have for dinner?'

What a lovely evening for a trip to the seaside!

Ice cream for afters anyone?

The best way to travel? Why a bear bag of course!!

A little tree climbing, after all that's what bears are good at!

A lovely view!

A little lie down on the sand after all that food and walking! What a busy day.

We are really lucky to live where we do.

Bearemy certainly enjoyed his trip to Southend. I wonder where he'll go on his next big adventure?

First week back after six weeks holiday!!

We have just finished our first week of the new school year, and we have already achieved so much!! To start off our class blog, here are some comments from pupils in Elm  about settling into a new class.

"This week I really enjoyed learning and making a brain. But I didn't really want to come back to school but I am enjoying it so far.We did just dance it was so fun.We do quite a lot of work.I am really enjoying Elm class."

"This week elm class did just dance.
I am so tired but i am so happy to be back at school with my friends.
I made a 3d brain."

'This week in elm class we learnt about the brain. I've been tired but it is nice to see all my friends. We did Just Dance. It is really fun and their are lots of new dance moves. I like my teacher, she is very nice and i think my friends like her as well and it is getting more and more tiring. we all made 3D brains as well."

"This week in Elm class we did just dance and I really enjoyed making brains with a partner . Its hard to get up early in the mornings and get ready for school in time."

"The first week was a fab start. I'm having so much fun. I enjoy being a year 6!'

"The other day in maths we were writing numbers in hieroglyphics and I hot told to hold mine on the display wall and I let go of it by accident and it fell down the backing of the display, the entire class laughed, so did I. They had chosen prefects and my best friend, who didn't want to be a prefect, is one and she is also a sports chief. In class we are learning about the brain, sleep, exercise and diet. And the other day we made model brains. We have ordered some minion sashes and there are two minions of the week!"

"First week back at school wooosmiley"

"In Elm we made brains. We got really messy."

We also wrote emails for what we wanted included in the first entry of our blog!!!

So lots of excitement about just dance, and paint out in the first week. Not bad going at all. Lots of learning about the brain, and the importance of diet, sleep and exercise. Lots of work on place value in maths with some work on Egyptian numbers thrown in.

Tired children by the end of the week but children looking forward to being minion of the week and yet more prefect badges to be given out at some point towards Christmas. What a great start to the year!!

Maybe we'll upload some photos next week. Keep your eyes peeled!
